One of the biggest parts of recent IFA shows has been the debut of Samsung’s new Galaxy Note smartphone. That’s not going to be the case this year, though, because Samsung announced the Note 5 weeks ago and many of you already have one in your pocket. Thankfully, it looks like IFA could still bring some exciting news.
Sources speaking to CNET say that ASUS, Huawei, LG, and Motorola will all introduce new Android Wear smartwatches at IFA next week. Unfortunately, the report offers no details on the new wearables that these four companies will allegedly be showing.
Since today’s report is light on details, it’s unclear if ASUS and Huawei will simply offer launch details on the ZenWatch 2 and Huawei Watch — which are already official but haven’t yet been released — or if we’ll see totally new hardware from them. We haven’t really heard much about a new LG smartwatch, but Motorola’s new Moto 360 has been leaking quite heavily lately, offering a Moto 360-like design with a few tweaks and likely some spec upgrades as well.
One other detail that’s worth noting is that Samsung has said that it’ll share more information about its round Gear S2 smartwatch at IFA, as well. However, it’s expected that that device runs Samsung’s Tizen OS and not Android Wear.
