Much of the recent Windows Phone news has been focused on Windows 10, but it’s worth remembering that there are still lots of folks out there waiting for their Lumia Denim upgrade. Today one group of people can stop waiting.
Microsoft says that it’s now pushing Lumia Denim out to the Nokia Lumia Icon on Verizon Wireless. The update will bump the Lumia Icon from Lumia Black to Lumia Denim, completely skipping the Lumia Cyan update.
As you might expect, there are quite a few goodies packed into this update, including Cortana, support for background images with translucent tiles, the Action Center notification panel, an updated version of Internet Explorer, a major Lumia Camera update, and much, much more. You can find the complete list of changes on Verizon’s support site (PDF).
This update is now rolling out over the air. Microsoft notes that before installing it, you’ll need to have at least 1GB of free storage space on your Lumia Icon. Once you do, you can head into Settings, then go to Phone Update, and then tap Check for Updates to see if Lumia Denim is waiting for you.
