Total ripp off

Posted on: February 9th, 2009 by Angela Johnson

The good: Calls usually go through, except at workThe bad: Every phone from them has had issues holding a charge. Lack of calling plans to meet our use of service.Summary: Have been with Verizon Wireless since 2000. At that time I signed up with a 150 minute individual plan. Three years later I added my husband to the plan so he would have a phone during his 70 mile commute to his new job. Verizon didn't bother to tell me that the sales person I spoke with in getting his phone set up lied about sharing the minutes I was already paying for and that our new plan would go up by $40 a month and 550 minutes. Our average use is around 90-100 minutes a month unless there is a family emergency. Bottom line is every time I've replaced one crappy phone for another Verizon changes our calling plan for the new lowest minute family share plan. Lets text messages through even though our calling plan does not include texting so my step-daughter can add $0.25 per message to our base $70.00 monthly bill them her father adds his $0.25 each replies but they aren't texting enough to warrant paying and additional $10.00 per phone per month for 100 messages because they average roughly 20 - 30 texts a month. At the moment we are paying the equivalent of 70 cents a minute for calls and $7.50 for texting. Heaven forbid they allow minutes to be exchanged for texts or vice versa. It took multiple calls to customer service for them to offer to switch each phone to two 250 minute individual plans combined on one bill, still way more minutes than we need and still $0.25 a pop on texting. The only other option is to replace our exisiting phones for "compatable phones" and switch to pay as you go. The thing I hate the most is Verizon taking the liberty of changing our calling plan as it sees fit even though we've been seriously over paying every month for years with the only option of early termination on two handsets or pay up. Other carriers in this area have far worse coverage areas and comparable plans.

Coverage, Coverage and more Coverage

Posted on: February 8th, 2009 by Jessi Franklin

The good: Amazing coverage, great customer care & good data speedsThe bad: Price, Verizon proprietary phone software & phones are not as new as Sprint phones.Summary: I love the coverage I get with Verizon Wireless. I have never had a single problem with the customer service I get someone who speaks great english every time! I also have AT&T for a work phone and I think there, "Fewer Dropped Calls" slogan is a lie. Verizon plans are expensive though but, what's the point of having a cell phone if the coverage sucks. I've also had Sprint, the prices were great, the phones were great but, the coverage was horrible. You get what you pay for. I'll stick with Verizon as long as the coverage stays the same or gets better:)

Verizon.....Can You Hear Me Now? ...Or Do I live In A Dead Zone?

Posted on: January 22nd, 2009 by Wanda M

The good: Great Touch Screen Phone, Excellent Corporate Discounts,The bad: Dropped Calls, No Receiption, Customer Service Will Not Call Back, Over Charges For Service I No Longer Have on My PhoneSummary: I have been with T-Mobile for 7 years (Since they where Voice Stream) and did not get reception on the first and second floor and of my home for past 3 of the last seven years. I decided to switch to Verizon since they advertise the no Dead Zone and My Employer offers 22% discount on my monthly bill. To my surprise I did not get reception in my home and on special occasions I will get a "Hello Can You Hear Me" then a dropped call. The Biggest Surprise is that I called several times during my first 30 days and open several problem tickets(since Verizon Closes the Ticket and never fixes the problem or call me back!) Now, I am at my 35th day Verizon states You?re in a Dead Zone and there is nothing we can do!...HOW ABOUT TELL ME YOU CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE 30 DAYS SO I CAN RETURN THE PHONE AND END THE CONTRACT!

Hate to switch but the cost is killing us

Posted on: January 5th, 2009 by Anonymous

The good: Excellent reception, the best we've ever had! We've had AT&T, Cingular, Sprint. None compareThe bad: Nighttime minutes start at 9pm, Have to watch billing like a hawk!Summary: At first we had to pick our phone bill apart piece by piece. One month they charged us $250 more than they should have! Their reply, "Whoops!" Gotta keep on top of them. We switched from 700 min shared to 1400 shared, good call! We're switching when contract is up though. Can't call my Mom, Grandpa, etc. after 9pm, and those daytime minutes go quickly.

Worst Customer Service EVER

Posted on: October 21st, 2008 by Joe Nanney

The good: Good coverage -- technically, they are excellent, which makes it hard to give them upThe bad: Unable to answer questions, mysterious billing items are not explainedSummary: Twice I have gotten mysterious charges. The only explanation is that "someone downloaded them to your phone" when I KNOW that it didn't happen. Last year, I had a problem with premium texts. They were unable to filter them, and then charged me 50 cents for incoming messages I never wanted. THEN, when they acknowledged that the problem wasn't mine, they STILL wanted me to pay 1/2 of the bill. Absurd.

Excellent choice

Posted on: September 20th, 2008 by Luis Diaz

The good: No dropped calls anywhere in town. Phone service even works great between Colorado Springs, down to Pueblo and out to Rocky Ford. The bad: Shared plan has option of 700 minutes then jumps to 1400 minutes. One in between would be nice.Summary: Switched to Verizon after carrying another cell phone for 4 years. Phones are nicers, call service is better and their customer service reps are more knowledgeable.

Switch to AT&T

Posted on: August 17th, 2008 by Timothy Chang

The good: Many retail stores in areaThe bad: Horrible signal, horrible interface and phonesSummary: I have been using Verizon Wireless for 6 years. This year was the worst of them. My phone, the LG enV2 was unusable after they did a software update. They said everthing was fine, but it would not turn on after. I was even in the store, and the people let me borrow a charger, but still nothing. A support associate looked and said the main board was fried. This was just two weeks after renewing the contract. They would not replaced the phone for me, even though I didn't leave the store. They said to buy a new $300 phone, pay $150 for a small chance of fixing it, or pay the termination fee. Verizon doesn't support old phones anymore, so I had to waste hundreds of dollars to continue service. I am now at AT&T, but here is my previous expierience.I live in Greensboro, NC, where there is supposed to be service. 2 out of 5 phone calls are dropped each day. There is extended network in the Verizon Store and my house. The only reason I have stayed with them is because of good service along I-40, where I travel a lot. Now at At&t, I have traveled thousands of miles without one dropped call.

Great Service!

Posted on: August 8th, 2008 by Anonymous

The good: Great Service (customer service; store walk-in & telephone have always been great), Great Selection of phones, Coverage is excellent. The bad: They do cripple their phones where you cannot modify or hack your phone and Verizon is the most expensive of all the carriers but you get what you pay for......Summary: I have been with Verizon for over 5 years now and never had any problems with their products or services. They have even replaced my phones with no hassles or questions asked. I would recommend this carrier to anyone. Verizon does cost more but its well worth it.
