Apple and Samsung have been engaged in a long legal battle in Australia over the Galaxy Tab 10.1, but it looks like the tablet will finally be allowed to go on sale Down Under next week. According to a report out of Reuters, the High Court in Australia has denied Apple's appeal of a ruling that caused an injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to be overturned. Apple was originally awarded the injunction back in October. When asked about the ruling, Tyler McGee, Samsung Australia's VP of Telecommunications, said that the it was "fantastic" and that the Tab 10.1 should be available for purchase in Australia "towards the latter part of next week."
Obviously this is ruling is pretty big for Samsung, not only because it finally gets to put the Galaxy Tab 10.1 up for sale in Australia, but also because it means that the slate will be on store shelves in time for the holiday shopping season. Of course, Apple and Samsung still have several other legal fights going on in various parts of the globe, including one in Germany where Apple recently filed for a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, a special variant of the tablet that was meant to avoid an injunction from Apple. Whether or not Samsung will have the same luck in that case as it's had in Germany remains to be seen, but you can bet that we'll keep you updated on it and on other Apple-Samsung legal happenings.
