Sometimes when you’re meeting up with friends, they’ll get to the destination before you and wonder how far away you are. Now you can easily answer that question with Google Maps.
Google Maps is gaining a new real-time location sharing feature that’ll let you tell your friends exactly where you’re at. You can share your location with friends for a precise amount of time that you choose, and if you’d like, you can stop sharing it at any time.
This feature also works when you’re using Google Maps to get directions to a place. When you do this, your friends will also see your trip info, meaning that they’ll also see your expected arrival time. In this case, your location sharing will end when you reach your destination.
Location sharing in Google Maps will be available on Android and iOS, and your friends that you share your location with will be able to see it on Android, iOS, the mobile web, and the desktop. Real-time location sharing will begin rolling out soon, and it’ll be available worldwide.
