Another Pokémon Go event is kicking off today.
Pokémon Go developer Niantic has announced that a Water Festival is starting today, March 22, at 1:00 pm PDT. This means that you’re more likely to encounter water Pokémon while you’re out and about, including Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their evolutions.
Niantic also notes that if you’re near an area where water-type Pokémon normally appear, you’ll have a greater chance to encounter water-type Pokémon from the Johto region. You’ve even got a better chance at running into a Lapras, one of the rarer Pokémon from the original batch.
Finally, Niantic says that it’ll roll out a new Magikarp Hat wardrobe icon during the Water Festival.
This Water Festival event will run until March 29 at 1:00 pm PDT.
There may not be any double XP or Candy involved in this Water Festival event, but it’s still a nice event for Pokémon Go trainers. With it, you’ve got a better shot at catching rare Squirtle and Totodile monsters so that you can evolve them, and you can also grab more Magikarp so that you can earn enough Candy to get yourself a Gyarados.
