Apparently that Unlimited Freedom plan that Sprint was testing last month did well, because Sprint today said that it’s launching the plan nationwide.
Unlimited Freedom is launching at Sprint tomorrow, August 19. The new plan offers unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data, as well as 5GB of high-speed mobile hotspot usage. Pricing starts at $60 per month for a single line, and you can add a second line for $40 per month, bringing your two-line total to $100 per month. Adding lines 3-10 will cost an additional $30 per month per line.
As with T-Mobile’s new plan, there’s some fine print with Unlimited Freedom that you should be aware of. Sprint’s new plan optimizes video streams to 480p resolution and music streams to 500kbps. Gaming is optimized, too, maxing out at speeds of 2Mbps.
Sprint does currently still offer a Sprint Unlimited plan for $75 per month if you want to avoid optimizations. It’s unclear how long it’ll stick around following the launch of Unlimited Freedom, but if you’re thinking about signing up for an unlimited plan on Sprint, you should compare the Sprint Unlimited plan with the Unlimited Freedom plan.
Sprint’s also got something for its prepaid customers. Starting August 19, Boost Mobile will offer its new Unlimited Unhook’d plan. This rate plan is similar to Unlimited Freedom, offering unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data as well as optimized video, music, and gaming.
Pricing for Unlimited Unhook’d starts at $50 per month for a single line. You can add up to four more lines, bringing you to a total of five lines, at a rate of $30 per month per line.
