T-Mobile has become known for it’s Un-carrier moves that attempt to shake up the mobile industry, and today T-Mo surprised us with Un-carrier 12, a new plan called T-Mobile One.
With T-Mobile One, T-Mo is doing away with data buckets and offering a single unlimited plan. The T-Mobile One plan includes unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data. Also included is unlimited mobile hotspot usage, but only at 2G speeds. Finally, T-Mobile One includes many of T-Mo’s previous Un-carrier moves, like Simple Global, Mobile Without Borders, and T-Mobile Tuesdays.
When it comes to tablets, you’ll be able to add your tablet to your T-Mobile One unlimited plan at a price of $20 per month per tablet. Wearables can be added at a rate of $5 per month per device for 2G speeds.
Other add-ons for T-Mobile One include:
T-Mobile One will become available for postpaid customers on Sept. 6, and T-Mo says that it’ll make the plan available to prepaid customers “in the future.”
Also worth noting is that if you’re an existing T-Mobile subscriber, you can keep your current plan if you’d like. And some folks might want to do that. For example, the current Simple Choice unlimited plan is priced at $95 per month and includes 14GB of high-speed mobile hotspot and HD video. Adding those features to the T-Mobile One plan would cost $110 per month, and that’s just with 5GB of high-speed data. So if you’re an existing T-Mobile subscriber, it may be wise to compare your current plan and pricing with T-Mobile One before deciding if you’re going to make the switch come Sept. 6.
