One month after the Lumia Icon became a member of the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview program, it’s getting an official W10M update.
Verizon has announced that starting today, June 23, it’s updating the Nokia Lumia Icon to Windows 10 Mobile. The update to W10M is a big one, bringing new features like the Microsoft Edge browser, the ability to set a background image on your Start screen, and an improved keyboard.
To download this update, you’ll need to be connected to Wi-Fi. You can check for the update manually by going into Settings > Phone update > Check for updates.
The Lumia Icon is getting a bit long in the tooth, having launched way back in February 2014. It was a high-end device for its time, though, offering specs like a 5-inch 1920x1080 OLED display, 20-megapixel camera, and Snapdragon 800 processor. And while some folks may have moved on from the Lumia Icon in that time, it’s good to see that anyone still rocking the Nokia phone will get to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile.
