Sometimes we get a phone we like so much that we just have to tell everyone around us. Maybe it happens every year when you upgrade to the next flagship device. Or maybe you’re the person in your family and group of friends they go to when they’re looking for advice on buying a new phone.
Whatever the case, if you’re a fan of technology and smartphones, it’s hard sometimes not to want to show off the phone you’re using, especially if it’s one that you really like with a ton of features you enjoy using. When you know, or think, something is great, why not share it with everyone around you, right?
Of course we all know that not everyone is going to like what we like, or even be looking for the things we’re showing off. Sometimes when we’re showing off a phone’s camera, the person we’re showing it to might not care how great the camera in their phone is. (“Does it take pictures? Yes? Great, that’ll do.”) And sometimes people might not care that a phone is waterproof.
Though, a phone with a shatter-proof or -resistant screen might be a universally loved idea.
It might just come down to pricing, right? You may be showing off the best-of-the-best when it comes to flagships, but the person on the other end of the conversation might not be looking to spend that much money on their next phone.
Yesterday I was in a big box retailer, near the smartphone section, and a kid was trying to convince what I can only assume was his dad that he should get the Galaxy S7 edge. The clerk behind the counter just waited, smiling sometimes, while the kid talked about the screen, the camera, and especially the edge. I couldn’t help but find it funny because the dad was just staring at him blankly, but the icing on the cake was when he turned to the employee and asked, “Can I just get a flip phone?”
Classic.
It got me thinking about all the smartphone fans out there who have plenty of chances to convince those around them to buy something like a Galaxy S7 edge, or whatever other phone they might think is awesome. So I wanted to ask you: When’s the last time you convinced someone to buy a new smartphone, and which one was it?
