AT&T iPhone owners were the first to be able to use Pebble’s iOS Text Reply feature, then Verizon customers got in on the action, too. Now T-Mobile subscribers with an iPhone and a Pebble smartwatch can use the feature, too.
Pebble says that its iOS Text Reply feature is now enabled for T-Mobile US, as well as the UK, Australia, and The Netherlands. iOS Text Reply enables you to respond to text messages using your Pebble smartwatch, which means that you don’t need to pull your phone out to answer a text. With iOS Text Reply, you can respond to messages with an emoji or custom text response, and Pebble Time-series users can also respond with a voice note. The instructions to enable iOS Text Reply can be found here.
One thing that’s worth noting is that because iOS Text Reply messages are sent using SMS directly through your carrier, messages that you send with your Pebble won’t appear in your iOS Messages app. This is because Pebble must work around Apple’s restrictions on its Messages app. However, you will get a confirmation on your watch when your text is successfully sent.
Pebble today also announced iOS Email Actions. With this new feature, iPhone owners can reply to emails, archive them, and delete them, all from their Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2, or Pebble Time-series smartwatch. This feature is still in beta, and so you’ll need to sign up for the beta test to try it out. When you’re selected, Pebble will email you with an invitation to join.
