Days after updating the Galaxy S5 to Android 6.0, Verizon is treating another aging Samsung flagship to a Marshmallow treat.
Verizon’s Galaxy Note 4 is now being updated to Android 6.0.1. The update includes the usual goodies that you’d expect from a Marshmallow update, like Google Now on Tap — which just got an update of its own — as well as Doze mode battery optimizations. Also included is Ultra High-Quality audio support, new-look app icons and folders, and Android for Work support.
Verizon has also thrown in some special touches of its own. For example, the update includes Wi-Fi Calling, which will let you make and receive phone calls over Wi-Fi for improved call quality.
The Galaxy Note 4 isn’t the freshest smartphone around, so it’s good to see Verizon and Samsung showing it some love and updating it to the newest version of Android. If you’ve got a Verizon Note 4 and haven’t yet gotten your update, you can check for it manually by going into Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
