Now that limited data plans are the norm, many folks are always looking for ways to conserve their data use. Facebook can be a data-intensive app, but the social network is now testing a feature that’ll make it gobble fewer megabytes.
A “Use Less Data” setting is now in testing on the Facebook app for Android. The option appears right below your profile in the menu of the app, and when you tap it, you’ll get a toggle that you can flip. The description of the setting says that when activated, “the images in your News Feed will appear smaller than usual.”
The Use Less Data feature appears to be in testing now, so it’s unclear when or if it’ll roll out to all Facebook users. The feature could come in handy, though, as it’ll help conserve high-speed data for folks that are on a limited plan and want to have that data for other apps, too.
