Last month we saw LG introduce the Stylus 2, its latest pen-equipped Android phablet. And while LG revealed many of the Stylus 2’s features at that time, it seems that it was saving one notable feature for a later announcement.

The LG Stylus 2 supports DAB+, which LG says makes it the world’s first smartphone with that feature. DAB+, a digital radio broadcasting standard, offers high-quality audio streams that don’t use any data. The Stylus 2 also comes preloaded with an app that’ll help you listen to DAB+ broadcasts.

Lots of phones come with built-in FM radio chips that offer data-free audio, but LG wants to take that a step further by building DAB+ support into the Stylus 2 for higher-quality radio that’s still free to use. It’s a nice addition that will be especially handy to folks with limited data plans, as they’ll be able to jam out to digital radio whenever they want without touching any of their data.
