After adding support for Uber pickup times and pricing back in 2014, Google Maps is now expanding its support for ride-sharing services.
Google Maps will soon support 99Taxis in Brazil, Ola Cabs in India, Hailo in the UK and Spain, mytaxi in Germany and Spain, and Gett in the UK. These services will appear in the ride service tab if you have the provider’s app installed, and you’ll see a pickup time and pricing estimate, just like with Uber. Tapping the service will push you to the provider’s app to actually order a car.
Google is also expanding its Uber support in Google Maps. The app will now show different Uber options if available, meaning that you’ll see uberX, uberXL, and UberBLACK if those types of cars are near you.
The new ride services tab will roll out to Google Maps for Android in the coming days, and it’ll hit iOS “very soon.” This new tab will make it easier for you to compare a ride service to other transportation options when you’re trying to get somewhere, especially if you use one of the five new services that are being supported by Google Maps.
