After launching its new K series of phones last month with the K10, K7, and K4, LG today added two more models to its latest family of Android phones.
The LG K8 and K5 are the two latest models of the K series of phones, which are meant to offer an advanced camera experience and software stuffed with features in devices that are easy on the wallet. The LG K8 offers an 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera as well as software features like Gesture Interval Shot, which lets you take several photos in a row by squeezing your fist, and Flash for Selfie to help brighten up your self portraits.
Other features of the LG K8 include a 5-inch 1280x720 display, 2125mAh removable battery, NFC, quad-core processor, a microSD slot, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The amount of RAM that you get depends on where in the world you’re located: The EU and North America get 1.5GB of RAM, while Latin America gets 1GB. All of the features are wrapped in a body with 2.5D Arc Glass and a woven back for a secure grip.
Meanwhile, the LG K5 has a 5-inch 854x480 display and 2-megapixel camera on its face, with a 5-megapixel camera on its backside. Inside of the K5 is a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a microSD slot for adding more storage. The whole package is powered by a 1900mAh removable battery, and its running Android 5.1 Lollipop.
LG says that the K8 will launch in Gold, Indigo, and White color options in regions like Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Commonwealth of Independent States, and Latin America. Meanwhile, the K5 will be available in Gold, Silver, and Titan in Europe, CIS, and Latin America. The K5 will hit Mexico, too, but it’ll be known as the Q6 there. Both the K8 and K5 are expected to begin hitting stores this week.
LG isn’t talking pricing quite yet, but it does say that they’ll be good choices for anyone looking for a smartphone with “great looks at a great price,” so they shouldn’t be too hard on your wallet.
