Earlier this month, Sprint began pushing Android 6.0 to its LG G4. That wasn’t terribly surprising, as Sprint has a history of being fairly quick with updates (for a US carrier), and LG had the international G4’s update ready months earlier. But today Sprint is rolling out another Marshmallow update that’s a bit unexpected.
Sprint says that it’s now updating its LG G Stylo to Android 6.0. The update is version LS770ZV7 and started rolling out today, December 28. The changelog only mentions a bump to Marshmallow, but we do know that that brings with it new features like Doze battery saving, more granular permissions, and more.
To check for this update on your Sprint G Stylo, go into the Settings app, then in the General tab you’ll find System updates. Tap the Update LG Software button and then Check For Update.
The LG G Stylo isn’t exactly a high-end phone, offering specs like a 1280x720 display resolution and 1GB of RAM, but it’s getting Android 6.0 before most other non-Nexus phones thanks to Sprint. That’s what makes today’s update so unexpected, but I’m sure that LG G Stylo owners aren’t complaining about this surprise holiday gift.
