Samsung has been working hard to beef up Samsung Pay since its launch back in September, and it looks like that effort will continue into 2016.
Samsung Pay will gain support for online shopping in 2016, says Thomas Ko, the global co-manager of Samsung’s mobile payment service. Ko also revealed that Samsung Pay will be made available on more devices in 2016, specifically lower-cost models. As of today, Samsung Pay is only available on a handful of flagship Android phones, like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5.
In recent months, Samsung Pay has gained support for new cards from Chase, MasterCard, and Visa, and it also works with gift cards now. In addition to adding features, Samsung has been working to get new users to sign up by offering free accessories in exchange for new activations. All of this adds up to show that Samsung is pretty serious about making Samsung Pay a thing with consumers. And with the addition of online shopping support, Samsung is hoping to give consumers another reason to buy a Galaxy phone and integrate Samsung Pay into their lives.
