Many in the wireless industry have been paying close attention to HTC’s financials over the past year or so, watching the company fluctuate between losses and small profits while its hardware earn critical praise. Today HTC released its unaudited Q4 2014 results, so it’s time once again to take an early peek into HTC’s figures and see how it’s been doing.

For the fiscal fourth quarter that ending on December 31, 2014, HTC says that its net profit was NT$47 million ($14.67 million USD). To compare, its profit in Q3 2014 finished at NT$0.16 billion ($4.99 million USD),  while Q4 2013 saw a net profit of NT$0.31 billion ($9.68 million USD). Revenue for Q4 2014 finished at NT$47.87 billion ($1.49 billion USD).

HTC said early in 2014 that it would place on focus on mid-range devices during the year, and it did just that with lots of new additions to its Desire lineup. Now it appears that that focus on the mid-range paid off for HTC. Looking ahead to 2015, HTC is facing increased competition from companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus, but HTC also says that it’s got some “huge surprises” in store for the new year, so it’s certainly going to be interesting to see what 2015 brings for the HTC crew.
