Back in February at MWC, Mozilla introduced a bevy of new Firefox OS devices, including the ZTE Open C and Alcatel OneTouch Fire S. The company also took the wraps off of some developer-focused hardware, and today one of those products has finally been made available for pre-order.
Mozilla announced today that Flame Firefox OS developer device is available for pre-order from online retailer Everbuying. The device costs $170 and is expected to take four weeks to ship. Here’s what you’ll be getting in exchange for your hard-earned $170:
Mozilla says that the Flame represents the mid-range type of hardware that it expects to target in the coming year. The unit comes bootloader unlocked and will receive updates to each major Firefox OS release, including the chance to sign up for Nightly builds that will get users the very latest version of Firefox OS.
While the Flame’s spec list isn’t particularly impressive compared to high-end devices on other platforms, it’s got a respectable feature set for Mozilla’s Firefox OS. At $170, the Flame looks like a great deal for anyone interested in Firefox OS development, especially since it includes a software configurable RAM feature that allows users to emulate different devices.
If you’d like to get a closer look at the Flame and its big, orange “Add to Cart” button, you can do so by hitting up Everbuying’s website.
