Google has released a number of its own apps on Android and iOS, including Google Search and Chrome, and today we've got another to add to the list.

Google today announced Photowall for Chromecast, a new app for Android and iOS phones and tablets. The app allows users to connect their mobile devices to a Chromecast and then send photos to the connected display. Once you're done beaming photos to the Chromecast, the app will automatically generate a YouTube video with all of the images that can then be shared with others.

Photowall isn't the biggest app that Google has ever released, and it's not something that you're likely to use day in and day out like Chrome or Gmail. It is a fun little experiment to help demonstrate what the Chromecast is capable of, though, and I'm sure that using Photowall with a bunch of friends would be a pretty fun experience. The fact that the app automatically creates a YouTube video with the images shared in a Photowall session is pretty neat as well.

Google says that Photowall will be available to both Android and iOS. The iOS app is now live in the App Store, but I'm not yet seeing it in Google Play. Once it does appear on the Play Store's virtual shelves, I'll give you a shout.
