OnePlus has been working to build hype for its new One smartphone in recent weeks by trickling out the device's spec details, which include a 5.5-inch 1080p display and 13-megapixel camera. Earlier this month, the company said that the OnePlus One will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, but now it appears that those plans have changed.
OnePlus's Google+ header image includes many of the features that have been announced for the One so far. Recently, though, the list was updated to include a Snapdragon 801 processor instead of the Snapdragon 800 chip that'd been announced previously.
OnePlus hasn't issued any official statements regarding the switch to a Snapdragon 801 for the One, but the move is one that's sure to please many of the folks that are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the CyanogenMod-powered device. While the Snapdragon 800 is no slouch, the 801 is a much newer chip that's found in other recent Android flagships, including the Galaxy S5. That said, OnePlus previously touted the 800 chip as having "the best speed, battery consumption and heat management," and so it'll be interesting to see how it spins the switch to a Snapdragon 801.
