It feels like it's been a while since we heard any major Google Glass news, but El Goog changed that today by announcing a new partnership with a major fashion firm.
Google has teamed up with Luxottica, the company behind many popular premium and sports eyewear brands like Ray-Ban, Oakley and Vogue-Eyewear. Unfortunately, those are about the only details that've been revealed by Google, so for now we'll just have to wait and see what kind of fruit that this partnership bears.
Even though we don't know much about the deal right now, Google's new partnership with Luxottica is a pretty big deal. As I mentioned before, the company is responsible for some of the most popular brands of glasses around, and it also operates more than 5,000 eyewear shops in the U.S. alone. Google says that the partnership won't result in Glass-equipped pairs of Ray-Bans and Oakleys on shelves tomorrow, but Luxottica's design capabilities could help to bring some attractive Glass hardware in the future, and its retail presence could be useful to Google as well.
With the recent launch of the Google Glass Titanium Collection and now this deal with Luxottica, are you getting excited for the public launch of Google's eyewear?
