Alcatel first introduced us to its One Touch Idol at CES 2013 back in January, and at the time the company said that the new smartphone would be arriving in the U.S. sometime in the third quarter of this year. It looks like we'll get another look at the device before then, though, as Alcatel announced today that the One Touch Idol will be making an appearance in the movie "Iron Man 3." In order to celebrate the One Touch Idol's role in the film, Alcatel is holding a contest on its Facebook page in which the winner will be awarded an all-expense paid trip to the "Iron Man 3" red carpet premiere in Hollywood on April 24.

The Alcatel One Touch Idol touts a 4.7-inch qHD (960x540) IPS display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1,800mAh battery and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. All of that is packed into a frame that measures 7.9mm thick and weighs 110 grams, which Alcatel claims makes the One Touch Idol "the lightest smartphone in its category." That could make the device an attractive option to anyone that values having a thin and light smartphone, and the fact that it comes preloaded with Jelly Bean means that buyers will get access to features like Google Now and expandable notifications out of the box.

Along with its red carpet premiere contest, Alcatel is teaming up with RadioShack for a promotion that'll run from April 14 through May 11. Any customers that buy the Alcatel Authority during the promotional period will receive a pair of tickets to see "Iron Man 3" after it arrives in theaters on May 3. The Alcatel Authority is currently being sold by RadioShack for $129.99 and features a 4.3-inch 800x480 display, 5-megapixel camera, 1,600mAh battery and Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread.
