Remember last month when Motorola gave its Android Software Upgrade News page a makeover? The company made another alteration to the page today, but this time the change has to do with a device's update scheduling. Motorola today revealed that the DROID Bionic is expected to receive its update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the second quarter of 2013. No other details of the update have been shared.

The DROID Bionic has had a strange life. Originally announced by Motorola and Verizon during CES 2011, the device underwent a total redesign and finally launched with a refreshed, boxier look eight months later. Then a Motorola employee said that the Bionic and its owners had gotten a "raw deal" when the phone's Android 4.0 update missed its early Q3 2012 release window. It looks like both the Bionic and its users are getting better treatment now, though, and it's good to see that a phone that originally launched with Android 2.3 in late 2011 will be bumped up to Android 4.1 in the first half of 2013. We'll have to wait until the update's arrival is closer before we know exactly when in Q2 it'll roll out and what goodies (besides the usual Android 4.1 fare) it'll contain, but at least Bionic folk now know that their taste of Jelly Bean is getting close.
