Looks like Toshiba is giving owners of its 10-inch Thrive tablet a nice surprise to help beat their case of the Mondays. The company has announced on its official support forums that the Thrive's update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now rolling out, and several owners report that they've already successfully downloaded and installed the new software. The update bumps the Thrive to Android 4.0.4, and besides the usual ICS goodies, it also includes improvements to audio/video performance, camera functions and signal strength/connectivity.
Toshiba recently announced that the Thrive's Android 4.0 update wasn't expected to hit until the fall, so it's nice to see the company push it out earlier than anticipated, especially since it was originally due in the spring. Toshiba says that Thrive owners that haven't yet received a notification to update can manually check for Android 4.0.4 by going into their Apps menu, selecting the Service Station app and then clicking "Check for Updates." It's also worth noting that this update is only for the 10-inch Thrive, so owners of the smaller 7-inch model will have to wait a tad longer for their taste of Ice Cream Sandwich. If you're packing a 10-inch Thrive and are able to download the Android 4.0.4 update, we'd love to hear about how it's working for you in the comments section below!
