Well what do we have here? Some images of a purported Nokia Windows Phone prototype have made their way online, complete with a yellow body and a Windows Phone 7.8/Windows Phone 8 start screen. The images were posted to Chinese microblogging service Sina Weibo and spotted by WPDang before being deleted from Sina Weibo. At the top of the device's face we can see an earpiece in the middle and a Nokia logo to the right, and at the bottom of the device's bezel is a "proto.nokia.com" branding. Interestingly, the bottom of the device also features the old Windows logo for its start button rather than the new Windows 8 logo.
These photos and any other messages that may have been attached to them were deleted fairly quickly after they were posted, so no real details about this device could be gleaned. We've seen the "proto.nokia.com" branding on other devices in the past, but with the presence of the older Windows logo start button, it's not clear whether this is a fake or if its just an old prototype. For now we'll just have to sit and stare at these images, waiting for the start of Nokia World next month and the possibility of new Windows Phone 8 hardware that may show up there. What do you all make of this mysterious yellow Nokia handset? Do you think it's an old prototype that simply hasn't been updated with a new logo or a well-put-together fake?
