Like what you've seen so far of the 8-inch Vizio Tablet? If so, you may be interested to know that Vizio just began taking a limited number of pre-orders for the Gingerbread device. Expected to begin shipping on July 18th, customers can select either the slate by itself for $379.99 or, if you're feeling a tad more spendy, there's also a bundle available that includes the Vizio Tablet, a folio case, and a 16GB microSD card for $399.99. Just in case you'd like to know what you're getting yourself into before opening your wallet, the Vizio Tablet features an 8-inch 1024x768 display, 1GHz processor, front-facing VGA camera, 512MB RAM, 2GB of user available storage, a built-in IR blaster for universal remote functionality, and Android 2.3 running beneath Vizio's V.I.A. Plus interface. You can pre-order just the tablet right here, while the bundle is available here. If you prefer the old-fashioned brick and mortar experience, the Vizio Tablet should be available in stores beginning July 25th.
It's kind of a bummer that the Vizio Tablet isn't running Honeycomb since, you know, that's the version of Android specifically designed for slates, but it looks like Vizio's done some tweaking to Gingerbread with its V.I.A. Plus UI to make 2.3 a little more tablet-friendly. So anyone thinking about pulling the trigger?
