The Samsung Intercept finally got upgraded to Android 2.2 at the tail end of last week, but now it seems that Intercept owners that haven't already gotten Froyo may want to hold off on the update. Sprint's official forum is littered with users complaining of problems like erased contacts, GPS issues, and, in some cases, completely bricked phones. There's no word on exactly what is causing all the trouble, but the folks at Talk Android are reporting that Sprint employees are being instructed to do everything possible to fix the problems with software updates, and if nothing can be done, they should replace the offending device on the spot.
What seems to be the most interesting part of this update is that only some Intercept owners are being negatively affected by it. While many users are reporting huge problems with the DL05 upgrade, there are some devices that work perfectly fine. There's been no official word from Sprint or Samsung on the situation yet, but with all of the angry users over on Sprint's forums, you can be sure that both companies are aware of what's going on. We'll be sure to update you when we learn more.
