It was almost two months ago that the Android Market had 80,000 apps available to users, and today another milestone has been reached. According to the @AndroidDev Twitter account (so you know it's official), there are now 100,000 apps available in Google's Android Market. We first heard the 100,000 number being tossed around back in July, but that figure came from AndroLib, not directly from Google.
The Android Market, and the entire Android platform, has grown quite a bit in the past couple of years. It's managed to surpass BlackBerry, webOS, and many others in number of apps available, even when you combine the number of apps available on those OSes. Apple and iOS are still far and away the leader when it comes to sheer number of apps available with over 300,000, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Android closing the gap in the near future. So, Android fans, it's time to celebrate! Put on your party hat and tell us your about your must-have Android apps down in the comments.
