It's widely expected that Samsung will introduce its Galaxy Fold 2 at an event next month, but today a report says that "Galaxy Fold 2" won't be the name of the new foldable.
The follow-up to last year's Samsung Galaxy Fold will reportedly be called Galaxy Z Fold 2. That's according to SamMobile, who got word of the new name through their "reliable sources".
By adding the "Z" to the Galaxy Fold 2's name, Samsung looks to be cementing the Galaxy Z name for its lineup of foldable phones. While the original Galaxy Fold doesn't have a Z in its name, it is part of the "Galaxy Z" family on Samsung's website alongside the Galaxy Z Flip, which launched after the Galaxy Fold. Because of this, it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see Samsung use the name "Galaxy Z Fold 2" for the follow-up to the Galaxy Fold.
Rumors have said that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be officially introduced by Samsung at an online event on August 5. Other devices expected to be revealed at that event include the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+.
