We recently heard that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 won't be announced at Samsung's August 5 event like past rumors said it would. That's likely disappointing for folks interested in Samsung's next foldable release, but there is a bit of good news today to help cheer them up.
A new report claims to have spec information for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. According to ETNews, the new Samsung foldable will have a 7.7-inch Y-OCTA display with 120Hz refresh rate and Ultra Thin Glass. The outer display is said to be a 6.23-inch panel.
To compare, the original Galaxy Fold has a 7.3-inch inner display and 4.6-inch outer display, so the Galaxy Z Fold 2 could offer upgrades in both respects.
The triple rear camera array on the Galaxy Z Flip 2 is said to include a 12MP main camera, 12MP ultra wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto sensor. The inside selfie camera is reportedly a 10MP snapper. This camera setup is notable because it's the same four cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S20.
It's said that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will have a fingerprint reader built into a button on its side, not in the display. And finally, a 15W charger will reportedly be included in the box.
While there are still some specs for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 that we don't know, so far this new foldable is shaping up to be a solid upgrade from the original. One of the main draws of foldable phones is that they give you a bigger display in a smaller footprint, and so a larger inner display will be great. Even better will be the much larger outer display, as the 4.6-inch outer screen on the Galaxy Fold is not only a bit small, but it's also got some serious bezel.
