The Galaxy Fold is launching this month, and when it does, Samsung will have a new service to offer owners of the new foldable smartphone.
Samsung's Galaxy Fold Premier Service will give customers "direct access to Samsung experts" who can provide guidance and support. This includes optional one-on-one onboarding sessions to help new Galaxy Fold owners understand the features of the device and how to use it.
Galaxy Fold owners can use this Premier Service to get help with their device over the phone "any time, any day."
Samsung also confirmed today that the Galaxy Fold will launch in South Korea this Friday, September 6. A U.S. launch will happen in the "coming weeks", and launches are also planned for the U.K., France, Germany, and Singapore. The Galaxy Fold will be available in Cosmos Black and Space Silver color options.
In the months since the Galaxy Fold was delayed, Samsung has made some improvements to the phone's design. The top protective layer of the larger Infinity Flex display has been extended beyond the bezel to show users that it's not a screen protector that they need to remove.
Samsung has also reinforced the Galaxy Fold to help prevent particles from getting into the device. This includes adding protection caps to the top and bottom parts of the hinge, as well as reducing the space between the hinge and body of the phone. Samsung has placed additional metal layers beneath the Galaxy Fold's Infinity Flex display to reinforce its protection as well.
Samsung has gone ahead and improved the Galaxy Fold's software during the delay, too, optimizing more apps and services for the foldable screen.
The Galaxy Fold was originally slated to launch back in April, but after the displays on some review units broke, Samsung decided to delay the release and improve the design of its foldable. It's good to see that the company was able to make improvements to the Galaxy Fold and ultimately launch it because it's still a futuristic kind of phone with a foldable screen, and now anyone who's interested in being an early adopter is getting a better device for their money.
