Samsung is nearly ready to launch the Galaxy Fold after delaying the foldable phone and improving its design. Before it does, though, it's officially cancelling any pre-orders that were made earlier this year.
Samsung is now contacting Galaxy Fold pre-order customers to tell them that their pre-order is being cancelled. In its email, which was shared by Droid-Life, Samsung says that it's "taking the time to rethink the entire customer experience — from purchase to unboxing, to post-purchase service".
To make up for the pre-order cancellation, Samsung is giving customers a $250 credit to its online store. The credit is "redeemable on anything at Samsung.com."
Finally, it's worth noting that anyone who pre-ordered a Galaxy Fold with a debit or credit card was not charged. Those who pre-ordered with PayPal will be refunded "immediately."
A $250 credit to Samsung's online store is a pretty nice gift for customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy Fold, and it should get them a few accessories or a solid discount on a new smartphone. It might be kind of frustrating to have to go through the trouble to place another order for the Galaxy Fold if you're planning on picking one up when it launches later this month, but hey, at least you're getting $250 in exchange for the effort you put into your previous pre-order.
