Instagram announced this week that it's expanding the testing of one big change to its service and rolling out another change.

First up, Instagram is expanding its test that hides the number of Likes that a post gets. This test began in Canada in April and has now expanded to Australia, Brazil, Ireland, Italy, Japan, and New Zealand.

"We want your friends to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get," Instagram said when explaining its decision to hide Like counts. "You can still see your own likes by tapping on the list of people who've liked it, but your friends will not be able to see how many likes your post has received."

Also rolling out this week is a change to Instagram's account removal policy. Instagram currently removes accounts that have a certain percentage of content that violates its rules, and now it will also begin removing accounts with a certain number of violations within a period of time.

Instagram will now notify users if their account is at risk of being disabled. If your account receives this alert, you'll have an opportunity to appeal the content deletion. These appeals will be available for violations of Instagram rules related to nudity, pornography, bullying and harassment, hate speech, drug sales, and terrorism. Appeals will be expanded in the coming months.
