Over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, HTC ran an offer that gave iPhone, Galaxy, and LG owners a rebate toward the purchase of an HTC One A9 if they traded in their existing phone. The deal apparently did well for HTC, with year-over-year sales on HTC.com increasing by 731 percent. Because the promo did so well, HTC has decided to extend it.
HTC’s One A9 trade-in promo has been extended through January 7, 2016. The offer was originally scheduled to end today, December 2. As a reminder, here are the devices that are eligible for the offer and the amount you’ll get for your trade-in:
As with most retailer and manufacturer trade-in offers, you could probably get more for your phone if you sell it yourself on eBay or Craigslist rather than trading it in. The point with offers like HTC’s is that they’re much easier and faster than going through the process of selling a phone yourself, and they also don’t require you to meet up with a stranger like you would a Craigslist deal. Apparently a lot of people found that HTC’s offer was a good way to get rid of their phone, as not only did HTC.com’s YoY sales increase by 731 percent over Black Friday weekend, but more than 10 percent of customers that traded in a phone for the One A9 got rid of an iPhone 6 or newer model.
