After appearing in a couple of image and video leaks over the past few weeks, the purported iPhone 6’s 4.7-inch front panel is back again today. We’re not just ogling the leaked part this time, though, as its durability is being put to the test.
YouTube user Marques Brownlee has acquired what he says is a 4.7-inch sapphire crystal display part that will be used in the iPhone 6. The video shows off how thin and durable the sapphire panel is, withstanding some knife stabs, key scraps and even some severe bending.
While you won’t be bending the iPhone 6’s front panel like this when it’s actually connected to a phone, this video does show that the part will be able to withstand regular abuse from keys and other scratchy objects. That’s good news for the more clumsy among us. Here’s to hoping that Apple can make the rest of the iPhone 6’s body as tough as this front panel.
