Over the past couple of months, the rumor mill has been churning with rumors of two Galaxy S5 variants: a premium Galaxy S5 “Prime” and a shrunken Galaxy S5 “mini.” Those rumors are continuing to flow today with a new report that claims to have details on the displays that each handset will sport.
According to a source speaking to GSMArena, the premium Galaxy S5 features the codename “KQ (Lentis)” and the model number G906. That codename lines up with a report on the premium GS5 that surfaced earlier this month. As for its display, the device is said to feature a 5.2-inch 2560x1440 display, which is slightly larger and considerably higher-res than the Galaxy S5’s 5.1-inch 1920x1080p panel.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S5 mini is rumored to be codenamed the “K Mini (Atlantic)” and feature the model number G800. This shrunken smartphone is rumored to be packing a 4.5-inch 1280x720 panel. That all lines up with a report regarding the Galaxy S5 mini that came to light in early April.
Today’s leak also claims to have details on the display of a new Galaxy Mega device. Rumored to be codenamed “K Mega (Vasta)” and feature the model number G750, this new Mega is reportedly coming with a 6-inch 1280x720 display.
Samsung is known for launching devices in all sizes, and last year it offered several variants of its Galaxy S 4 flagship. That’s why it wouldn’t be a surprise to see these premium and mini Galaxy S5 models hit the market. And while nothing is official until Sammy says it is, these leaked screen sizes sound like they’d be good fits for their devices. A 4.5-inch Galaxy S5 mini would be smaller than the flagship GS5 but not too small, while a 5.2-inch premium GS5 would be slightly larger than the GS5 but not too close to the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3.
