The HTC One (M8) and Samsung Galaxy S5 are sure to be two of the biggest Android smartphones of the year, and if you're the type of person that prefers your flagships to be untouched by a carrier's hands, you can now snap up the unlocked flavors of both devices.
Online retailer GSM Nation is now selling both the One (M8) and Galaxy S5 on its website, offering consumers an easy way to snap up HTC and Samsung's latest and greatest. Both phones include support for 3G/HSPA+ connectivity on the 850/900/1900/2100MHz bands, meaning that they'll play nicely with AT&T's 3G network in the U.S. as well as T-Mobile's refarmed 1900MHz coverage. Pricing for the One (M8) is set at $849, while the Galaxy S5 will set you back $749.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is currently available for pre-order from several U.S. operators but isn't slated to launch for another week or so, and while the HTC One (M8) is now available for purchase, only one operator is actually carrying the phone in its stores. Ordering online is a great way to snag a One (M8) or Galaxy S5 before most other folks, and while it's kind of a bummer that these models don't support LTE in the U.S., the upside is that they're free of preinstalled carrier apps and their updates don't need to go through an operator before being pushed out over the air.
