One of the things that Motorola likes to do a lot of lately is update its standalone apps that are in Google Play. The company has pushed out several updates to apps like Touchless Control, Assist and more, giving users of compatible hardware new features and bug fixes without having to roll out a full-on software update to all devices. Today Moto issued another update to one of its apps, but if you're not someone that reboots your phone frequently, you may not even notice the change.
Motorola has updated its Boot Services app, which controls the animation that plays when a Moto X or Moto G starts up. The new animation includes a bit of April Fools' Day playfulness thanks to the presence of the Loch Ness Monster, a UFO and Bigfoot as well as the new "Powered by Android" branding that's purportedly a requirement for any device that wants official access to the Play Store.
While this new boot animation doesn't really provide any new features for the end user, it is a nice little treat for Moto X and Moto G owners, and it also shows that loading apps into the Play Store for easy updating is a good thing for manufacturers to do. As for the "Powered by Android" branding, with the recent rumors that Google is mandating that banner to be shown on Play Store-enabled devices, it's no surprise to see it appear on a high-profile device like the Moto X.
You can see Motorola's new boot animation for yourself by viewing the video from Android Central that's embedded below. And if you've got a Moto X or Moto G that you call your own, you can find the Motorola Boot Services app in the Play Store by following this link.
