Details on a new Samsung smartwatch have started to trickle out.
A new entry in the FCC’s database has been discovered for the Samsung Gear Sport. The device features the model number SM-R600 and is classified by the FCC as a “wrist device.” You can see the back of the Gear Sport above, and we can see some cutouts for what may be a heart rate sensor.
Details on the Samsung Gear Sport’s features are mostly still unknown for now. The FCC filing indicates that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support is included, and considering Samsung’s previous Gear smartwatches have run Tizen, it seems likely that this Gear Sport will as well.
Samsung is hosting an event on August 23rd, and while the Galaxy Note 8 will likely be the start of the show, it’s possible that we’ll meet this Gear Sport there, too. It’s also worth noting that Samsung announced its Gear S3 smartwatches at the end of August last year, making a new smartwatch announcement at Samsung’s upcoming August 23rd event even more likely.
