Now that the OnePlus 5 is available, some OnePlus 3 and 3T owners may be wondering what the future looks like for their devices. Today OnePlus shed some light on its software update plans for the OP3 and OP3T.
OnePlus says that it plans to release an update with August security patches to the OnePlus 3 and 3T soon. Then the OP3 and 3T will be bumped up to OxygenOS 4.5 in the next month or two.
OnePlus also confirmed today that the update to Android O will be the last Android OS update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. Those devices will continue to receive security updates for the “foreseeable future,” and OnePlus plans to continue releasing individual app updates, too.
Finally, OnePlus says that after the OP3 and OP3T have been updated to Android O, it’ll move its Open Beta Program from the OP3 and OP3T to the OP5.
