On the same day that replacement Galaxy Note 7 units are being made available in the US, many carriers are pushing updates to their versions of Samsung’s Android flagship.
AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon have all announced that their rolling out updates to their Galaxy Note 7s. These updates will change the battery icon on safe Note 7s to green, indicating that they’re the safe phones. These green battery icon will be present in the status bar, on the Always On Display, and on the Power screen.
If you’ve got a defective Note 7 that you haven’t yet exchanged, the update will install a Safety Recall Notice pop-up urging you to power down the Note 7 and stop using it. This pop-up will appear every time that you power the Note 7 on and when you charge it.
To manually check for this update, you can go into Settings > General Device Management > Software Update > Check for Update. AT&T Note 7 owners will be updated to version N930AUCS2APHE, the T-Mobile Note 7 will be on N930TUVU1API4, and the Verizon Note 7 will be updated to N930VVRS2APHE.
Sprint doesn’t appear to have announced an update for its Note 7 devices. Considering that the other three are now pushing updates, though, Sprint could start rolling out an update of its own shortly.
