One week after launching its new Unlimited Freedom plan, Sprint is adding another new plan on top of it.
Unlimited Freedom Premium is launching today as an upgraded version of Sprint’s new Unlimited Freedom plan. With Unlimited Freedom Premium, you get unlimited streaming of HD video (up to 1080p+), high-quality music (up to 1.5Mbps), and game streaming (up to 8Mbps). Unlimited Freedom Premium also offers unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data, like the regular Unlimited Freedom plan.
The regular Unlimited Freedom plan caps video streaming at a resolution of 480p, music streaming at 500kbps, and gaming at 2Mbps. So with Unlimited Freedom Premium, you’re paying a bit extra each month to have much higher-quality streaming media.
Unlimited Freedom Premium costs $80 per month for a single line, compared to $60 per month for regular Unlimited Freedom. You can get two lines of Unlimited Freedom Premium for $140 per month, compared to $100 for regular Unlimited Freedom. So the Premium part that includes higher-quality streaming is $20 per month per line.
It’s worth noting that you can mix-and-match Unlimited Premium flavors between lines in a family. So you can have one line with regular Unlimited Freedom and another with Unlimited Freedom Premium if you’d like.
Sprint also says that for a limited time, customers that sign up for Unlimited Freedom Premium can get it for free through Oct. 31, 2016.
Last week, Sprint and T-Mobile each launched their own unlimited plans, and both plans offered unlimited video streaming capped at a resolution of 480p. The difference was that T-Mobile lets customers pay $25 per month per line to get unlimited HD video streaming if they’d like. Now Sprint has addressed that difference with Unlimited Freedom Premium, giving its own customers the chance to upgrade to high-quality streaming each month.
