The Life’s Good crew officially announced the first of two flagships this year not too long ago, pulling the curtain away from the G5 and its modular design. The fanfare has died down for the G5 since it launched, but now that the V20 already has its reveal date finalized, all eyes are on what’s coming next.
LG isn’t a stranger to teasing its upcoming handsets, either, but this time seems a bit different than previous efforts. LG unveiled the launch date for the V20 not too long ago, and ever since it hasn’t relied on teases of what the device might look like, with shadows and hidden curves or whatever else.
Instead, LG’s promoting features without worrying about the fact it’s going to be talking about those features on stage when it unveils the new V20.
And LG is talking right at me with these features it’s hyping, too. I listen to music so much on my phone that hearing the Life’s Good crew is taking audio quality seriously in the V20 is, well, like music to my ears. I’ll be honest: Up to this point the V20 hasn’t been on my radar at all. I don’t really care much about the secondary display, because I know I’ll never really use it, so I didn’t even think I’d consider it.
But when a company just so happens to line up its efforts with something I take seriously, I have to start paying attention. Which is what I’m certainly doing with the V20 now. Sure, the secondary display still isn’t something I’m interested in, but the V20 is shaping up to be another powerful flagship, and if it does feature a dual-camera setup on the back, with internals to keep everything ticking along at a steady pace, LG might just keep my attention longer than any other phone this year has.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention the fact the V20 is launching with Android 7.0 Nougat on board. No waiting for a future update or getting clogged up in carrier red tape. (That’ll happen eventually, but at least the phone already has Nougat built in.) That’s a huge bonus in my book, too.
All-in-all, the LG V20 went from a phone I only had a cursory interest in to one of my most anticipated handsets of the year, all because of the features LG is primed to provide with their newest flagship. I’m hoping that anticipation only continues to build up to the launch, because I’d be more than happy to accept it into my life as a new daily driver.
What about you? How are you feeling about the V20? Are you eager to see what LG brings to the table? Did you buy the V10 and are looking forward to upgrading? Let me know!
