After getting a couple of early looks at the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active this month, we’re now getting what might be the rugged Android phone’s full spec list.
Several Galaxy S7 Active specs have been leaked by VentureBeat. As with other Galaxy S Active models, the GS7 Active is expected to have a spec sheet that’s largely similar to the standard GS7. That includes a 5.1-inch 2560x1440 Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD slot for adding more storage. It’s said that the GS7 Active will also include 12-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, just like the GS7.
There are a couple of changes between the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Active that are worth taking note of. First is the battery, which is expected to measure in at 4000mAh on the Galaxy S7 Active, up from 3000mAh on the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 Active is also expected to be physically larger than the Galaxy S7, with the former coming in at 9.9mm-thick and the latter measuring in at 7.9mm.
Given the Galaxy S7 Active’s rugged body and beefier battery, it’s no surprise to hear that it could be larger than the regular Galaxy S7. That extra size does give you a tougher body than the glass-and-metal Galaxy S7, though, as well as a significantly larger battery. While the Galaxy S7 Active may not be as easy on the eyes as the Galaxy S7, that added battery and rugged design could be worth it for some folks.
Like past Galaxy S Active phones, the Galaxy S7 Active is expected to be an AT&T exclusive. It’ll reportedly launch in June.
