Yesterday HTC put its Vive virtual reality headset up for pre-order after one year of prototypes and demonstrations. So how did it do? Pretty well, apparently.
Shen Ye, who works on VR at HTC, says that more than 15,000 HTC Vive units were pre-ordered in less than 10 minutes. It’s not clear exactly how many Vives have been pre-ordered in total so far, but as of this writing, new pre-orders are slated to ship in May, one month after the first Vives start going out.
Woah, more than 15k units in less than 10min :o

We’ll have to wait and see if HTC shares more sales info for the Vive, but the details that we do know are impressive. Not only is virtual reality still young, but spending $800 on a totally new device that uses only that young platform can be a tough ask for some folks. But apparently at lot of people were convinced about the Vive, which is exciting news for HTC and fans of VR in general.
Did any of you pre-order an HTC Vive?
