Dixons Carphone is well-known over in Europe as a wireless retailer, but the company doesn’t really have any presence in the US. Today Sprint announced that that’s changing.
Sprint is teaming up with Dixons Carphone to open 500 new stores across the US. The stores will be Sprint-branded, but they’ll be funded by both companies, and they’ll each have a 50 percent ownership interest. Exactly when and where these stores will open up isn’t yet clear, but Sprint says that they’ll be built in several US markets.
Sprint actually ran a pilot program for its Dixons partnership last year, and the big yellow carrier says that it resulted in “strong sales performance and increased customer satisfaction ratings.” So while Sprint does already have any of its own stores sprinkled throughout the US, these new Dixons could perform better than Sprint’s existing shops.
