Your weekend is about to get much better, OnePlus One owners, because a major update is now available for you to download.
OxygenOS 2.1.4 for the OnePlus One has been released. The update includes a bump to Android 5.1.1 as well as improvements to the OnePlus Camera, dark mode, app permissions, new ringtones, and more. Here’s the official changelog from OnePlus itself:
For all of that good, though, there are some not-so-good details to be aware of. OnePlus says that it had to pull a few features from OxygenOS that are intended for the OnePlus 2 and won’t work on the OnePlus One. Those include MaxxAudio and relevant apps, the manual camera mode and RAW file support, fingerprint support, and a screen temperature slider.
If you’ve read this far and are ready to get OxygenOS 2.1.4 onto your OnePlus One, here’s how you can do it. The update won’t be offered over the air, so you’ll need to load it onto your phone manually, which OnePlus says “should be no more challenging than grilling a strip of bacon.” The company does caution that you should not try to flash this build using TWRP, because you’ll likely lose your radio and IMEI, which will lead to a customer support talk that you’d probably rather avoid.

While it’s kind of a bummer that select OnePlus 2 features won’t make it to the OnePlus One, some of those tweaks are understandable given the hardware on the OnePlus One. For example, the OPO doesn’t have a fingerprint reader, so there’s no reason for fingerprint reader support to be included in its update. Overall, this looks like a solid update for those folks still rocking a OnePlus One. If that’s you, you should probably grab it as soon as you can.
