The iPhone 5se is rumored to be set for a debut in March, but that’s not the only announcement that Apple might have planned for the month.
Apple will reportedly announce update the Apple Watch in March, but it won’t be a full-on revision. Instead, it’ll allegedly be closer to what we saw in September 2015, when Apple announced a couple of new Apple Watch sport colors and new bands. Apple is said to be prepping new band colors for March as well as bands made of entirely new materials and bands that are the result of partnerships with other companies.
Apple is also expected to launch watchOS 2.2 in March. The update, which was released to developers for beta testing earlier this month, will include the ability to sync multiple Apple Watches to a single iPhone, improved Maps functionality, and more.
It’s said that a full-on new Apple Watch model is currently slated for a September 2016 announcement.
Apple’s upcoming event is reportedly penciled in for March 14. However, that’s reliant on a third product — like the iPad Air 3 — being ready for a March debut as well. If it’s not, then Apple may opt for a simple online announcement its iPhone 5se and new Apple Watch bands.
The Apple Watch was first announced in September 2014, but it didn’t launch until April 2015. That’s caused some confusion about when we’d see a new Apple Watch model, but now it’s looking like the refreshed hardware will debut in September 2016. As for what it might include, past rumors have suggested that the Apple Watch 2 might include a front-facing camera for FaceTime as well as a better Wi-Fi chip that’d let you perform “basic communication” when you’re away from your iPhone. We’re still eight months away from the Apple Watch 2’s alleged announcement, though, so those features are still in up in the air.
